Humana Health and Safety Policy

At the start of the pandemic, Humana and its subsidiaries made a promise that we would put the health and safety of our associates, members, patients, and community as our top priority – and we’ve consistently delivered on that promise. As a leader in healthcare innovation and with the rise of COVID-19 infection rates, we have a responsibility to be part of the solution. Therefore, we have updated our Health and Safety policy as follows.

Humana and its subsidiaries will require full vaccination for associates and select contractors who conduct work outside of their home. This applies to those who work within our facilities; interact directly with members and patients; attend in-person meetings or trainings; and/or represent the companies at events or volunteer activities. Medical and religious exemptions will be available, and this policy will not supersede state or local laws.

We value the health and well-being of our associates; and have access to highly effective vaccines that are scientifically proven to reduce the risk of infection, and the risk of hospitalization or death among those who are infected. And the best way for us to deliver on our promise to keep everyone safe is to take this step.

Working Virtually at Humana

We have seen first-hand the value that our remote associates add to our work. And we never want to miss out on hiring the right person for the right role, regardless of where they are located.Our experience giving associates the tools and flexibility to work remotely over the years has made our needed transition to a nearly fully remote workforce relatively seamless.

During typical times, 47% of our workforce works remotely – in roles ranging from social work to accounting. And now, with many, many more associates working from home, those roles have expanded. We have stepped up our ability to work together, virtually, through the use of tools like Microsoft OneDrive and Teams, WebEx, and an internal social media platform called Buzz. We are using video conferencing so associates can still feel connected and so our members can have face-to-face interactions with providers when and where they need to – safe at home.
