Humana Inc. is a member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), an effort to build private partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and military spouses. The partnership's goal is to facilitate the employment of military spouses to the mutual benefit of the military and privately held companies. The goal affords the spouses employment opportunities to better meet employment goals, career sustainment and mobility and increased family financial security.

Humana Inc. has been recognized as a "5-Star Employer" by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) organization as a result of ongoing support for Humana Inc. associates who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the Guard's highest honor for private employers. Humana Inc. demonstrates its commitment to employee military service by not only ensuring ongoing compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act Law, but also by adopting polices and programs that go above and beyond the requirements of the law.

ESGR developed the 5-Star Employer program to enlist support of employers in developing human resource policies and practices that encourage participation in Guard and Reserve programs. Induction into the program demonstrates that Humana Inc. is an active advocate for associate service and has educated its managers to ensure that associates on military duty can serve with no concerns that it will negatively impact their employment or career development at Humana Inc.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched Hiring Our Heroes, a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with a network of 1600 state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, their goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of local communities where veterans and military families return every day. Humana Inc. is proud to participate in this initiative.
