Advancing diversity, equity and inclusion builds a stronger workplace

At Humana, employees across our company demonstrate every day how committed they are to making Humana a great place to work. Given the roles we play in helping millions of Americans live healthier lives, we know that – to do our absolute best – we must have a workplace that reflects the people we serve and thrives in part because every person can bring their whole self to work to do their best work. Our vibrant, diverse culture and environment of inclusion is one of our greatest strengths.

Growing diverse talent within our workforce remains a top priority. We recruit professionals from organizations across the country that share our commitment to diversity including national partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Through the Disability Hiring Program, Mature Workers Initiative, and Veterans Hiring Initiative, we connect with a wide array of recruitment sources to create pathways for diverse professionals to join Humana. These intentional recruitment initiatives accelerate diversity within our organization and give a competitive advantage to meet the needs of our members.

Living Our Values

Humana’s values–caring, curious and committed–are in action every day collectively shaping our culture of inclusion. Culture shaping intentionally links behaviors, values, and experience to drive our strategy and support our business outcomes. Humana’s culture creates a meaningful work environment where inclusion and belonging are prioritized.

Diversity, equity and inclusion start at the top with Humana’s CEO, Bruce Broussard. Four years after signing the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge and joining the Catalyst CEO Champions for Change, he continues to champion actionable progress towards achieving our diversity, equity and inclusion strategic goals. Humana’s partnership with OneTen highlights continued commitment to the long-term health and well-being of the communities we serve, including our own employee community. We are actively working to build and grow a diverse and equitable talent ecosystem and support our employees in building skills needed for today and in the future.

Network Resource Groups

Created to offer our employees places to connect, Humana’s Network Resource Groups enhance the employee experience. More than 30% of employees actively participate in at least one of our ten award-winning Network Resource Groups (NRG’s). NRG membership is comprised of people who personally identify with the group as well as allies who want to support and amplify the voices of the marginalized community. NRG’s are employee-led and driven groups that endeavor to impact Humana’s culture, consumer, careers, and communities where we serve.

Our NRG leaders and teammates help us advance diversity of thought and proactively contribute to innovative, insightful business decisions that benefit our ever-changing, diverse members.

Executive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council

Humana’s Executive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council exists to help integrate inclusion, diversity and equity into the fabric of the organization from the top down. The Council connects diversity, equity and inclusion activities to a broader business-driven, results-oriented strategy, and leverage leadership to advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion into the fabric of Humana’s culture.

Given our diverse, engaged and capable talent, Humana is well positioned for long-term sustainable success – in part because of the work our employees are doing to make Humana an employer of choice. Thanks to our teammates for their dedication and commitment to making Humana a place where every one of us can bring our whole selves to work each day – to do our best work.
