Inclusion & Diversity

At Humana, we see diversity as the reality of the world we live in, and inclusion is what we hope to achieve with it.

We strive to create an inclusive culture.  Inclusion is an attitude and a mindset that enables us to create a meaningful work environment where our associates feel welcome and safe to be their true selves. Through Humana’s inclusive environment, we support and encourage our people to maximize their potential, and bring their A-game to work every day.

We see the diversity within our own organization as a business imperative.  It is the abundance of experiences and perceptions—the unique characteristics, backgrounds and beliefs of our associates—that drive the innovative and strategic thinking which gives Humana our competitive edge in a diverse marketplace.  Humana embraces the diversity of the communities and consumers we serve, and we reflect that in our commitment to our people.

Humana Military Healthcare Services is a member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), an effort to build private partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and military spouses. The partnership’s goal is to facilitate the employment of military spouses to the mutual benefit of the military and privately held companies. The goal affords the spouses employment opportunities to better meet employment goals, career sustainment and mobility and increased family financial security.

Humana Military has been recognized as a "5-Star Employer" by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) organization as a result of ongoing support for Humana Military associates who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the Guard's highest honor for private employers. Humana Military demonstrates its commitment to employee military service by not only ensuring ongoing compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act Law, but also by adopting polices and programs that go above and beyond the requirements of the law.

ESGR developed the 5-Star Employer program to enlist support of employers in developing human resource policies and practices that encourage participation in Guard and Reserve programs. Induction into the program demonstrates that Humana Military is an active advocate for associate service and has educated its managers to ensure that associates on military duty can serve with no concerns that it will negatively impact their employment or career development at Humana Military.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched Hiring Our Heroes, a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with a network of 1600 state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, their goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of local communities where veterans and military families return every day. Humana Military is proud to participate in this initiative.
